Assam: Fake currency racket busted in Sonitpur

Guwahati: Assam Police busted fake currency racket and arrested two persons in Sonitpur district on Wednesday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Suraj Ali and Hazarat Ali. Both of them is a resident of Gudamghat Miri village in Chariduar Tehsil of the district.

The police officials recovered one machine used for making fake Indian currency notes, one box containing 24 Nos of fake Rs 500/- notes.

The officials further seized four motorcycles with Registration Certificate (RC) No. As-12/U1952, AS-12AD/1954, As-1212AA/4553 and As-12/T-6216.

However, further investigation into the matter is underway in order to bust the other gang members.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Sonitpur Police wrote, “Yesterday, on 02/03/2022 at 2.20 pm based on source information Sonitpur Police conducted a search operation and apprehended two persons, namely, (1) Suraj Ali, 34 yrs S/O Jamir Ali and (2) Hazarat Ali, 24 yrs S/O Jamir Ali both are of Gudamghat Miri, PS Chariduar and recovered one machine used for making fake Indian currency notes, one box containing 24 Nos of fake Rs 500/- notes and 4(four) Nos of motorcycle vide RC No.As-12/U1952, AS-12AD/1954, As-1212AA/4553 and As-12/T-6216. Further investigation is on to bust the other gang members.”
