Assam Gets First Cow Ambulance Service in Dibrugarh
Guwahati: Assam is the first state to have a cow ambulance service. In the Dibrugarh district, an ambulance service for ill and injured cows was launched.
Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu inaugurated the service, which will be administered by Gopal Gaushala on Friday.
In 2020, the ‘gaushala,’ or chow shelter, established a cow hospital.
“The ambulance service will make it possible to treat extremely ill and injured cows quickly. I am pleased that the ‘gaushala’ is raising the bar in terms of treating injured and sick cows “Pegu said.
Nirmal Beria, the president of Gopal Gaushala, claimed it was the Northeast’s first cow ambulance service.
“We faced a lot of trouble in bringing the sick cows to the shelter, so this ambulance service was started,” he said.
“On several occasions, we could not save sick cows but now we hope that the ambulance service will help,” he added.
The ambulance was brought in from Ahmedabad and is fitted with a hydraulic lift.
