Assam Govt sanctions Rs 375 cr to bid for taking over assets of closed HPCL units
Guwahati: The Assam Government has sanctioned Rs 375 crore for participating in the bidding to take over assets of closed units of the Central PSU Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited (HPCL) at three places of the state – Nagaon, Cachar and Haflong.
The decision was taken in the weekly cabinet meeting, chaired Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.
The Cabinet also decided to benefit around 1,100 HPCL workers’ families in Assam.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Sarma wrote, “Sanction of Rs 375 for participation in the bidding for taking over all assets of Nagaon Paper Mill, Cachar Paper Mill and the Leasehold land of Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) Ltd at Haflong. Decisions to benefit around 1,100 families of HPC workers in Assam.”
