Guwahati: The General Administration Department (GAD) of Assam Government has issued a notification stating that the state public holidays for the 23rd and 24th of January have been cancelled with immediate effect.
The holidays have been cancelled because of the Republic Day celebrations that will take place on January 26.
23rd January is observed as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary, while on 24th January, the Bodo community of Assam will be observing Bathou Puja.
The notice further specifies that any government employee wishing to take time off on the specified days may do so in advance by submitting an application to their particular department.
