Assam: Jongal Balahu Rampart to be transformed into a tourist destination
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announced that the Jongal Balahu Rampart in Nagaon’s Raha will be converted into a tourism destination.
The Chief Minister on Sunday paid a visit to the Jongal Balahu Rampart and examined it.
The rampart has been named after the Tiwa king and brave warrior Jonjal Balahu.
According to CM Sarma, the State government would design an integrated action plan for the revival of Jongal Balahu Rampart and its transformation into a popular tourism attraction, which will cost more than Rs. 50 crores.
He also stated that work will begin within the next three to four months, adding that once done, the location will be a gleaming tourism attraction in the state.
Sarma gave a detailed overview of the project, stating that it was divided into three parts: the two ends of the rampart, the central area, and other components.
He added “An auditorium and an open-air theatre will also be created as part of the project. The park will also have a children’s park, an amusement park, and a light and sound show.”
Meanwhile, many hanging bridges will be built on the water body within the project’s grounds. Electric rickshaws, eateries, and cafeterias would all be included in the project to assist tourists.
