Assam: Massive Fire breaks out in Dibrugarh
Guwahati: A massive fire broke out in Dibrugarh town of Assam on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place at around 3am on the new market area of the town.
More than 40 shops gutted and property worth around crores of rupees were burnt to ashes in the heavy fire.
However, the reason behind the incident is suspected to be an electric short circuit in one of the shops.
Fire tenders from state fire services, Oil India Limited-Duliajan, Chabua air force station, and BCPL dispatched fire tenders.
The fire was eventually doused at around 7am.
Top authorities from the Dibrugarh district administration and police department rushed at the scene to assess the situation, including Dibrugarh deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu, SP Shwetank Mishra, and circle officer (East) Jharna Patgiri.
It may be mentioned that there were no casualties or injuries reported in the incident.
