Assam Municipal Elections: Counting Of Votes Underway

Guwahati: The counting of votes for 80 municipal boards representing 977 Assam wards began at 8 am on Wednesday. There were 2,532 candidates contending for votes and the election was place on Sunday.

For the Sonari and Moran municipal boards, counting began in the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Charaideo district of Assam.

There were 36 candidates running for the 16 wards of the Sonari municipal board, and 22 for the 11 wards of the Moran municipal board.

In the first round of counting, candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won wards 2, 3, 4, and 5, while an independent candidate won ward 1.
