Assam: One arrested for cattle smuggling
Guwahati: Assam Police arrested one people in connection with illegal Cattle Transportation in Nagaon district on Wednesday.
In an operation conducted by the Dhing police, the police officials arrested one person for their alleged involvement in the illegal transportation of cattle across the border.
The arrestee has been identified as Mofidul Islam who is a resident of Samaguri town of the district.
The officials further seized one truck from the Bechamari Market of the Moirabari Part Tehsil area in the district that were used to carry the cattle.
The police further stated that after questioning both of them, they stated that the cattle heads were being transported to Meghalaya and that they had been purchased from a cattle market in Salkati.
They were detained on suspicion and an inquiry into the matter has begun.
Moreover, the Police recovered 28 cattle from their possession.
