Assam: One drug peddler arrested in Nagaon
Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs in the state, Assam Police has arrested one suspected drug peddler in the Nagaon district of Assam on Friday.
The incident took place in the Dhing town of the district.
The accused have been identified as Jahirul alias Joltu.
Based on the input received from the area, the Dhing police launched the raid in the town.
According to reports, Jahirul along with another drug seller was allegedly involved in smuggling activities in the area.
When the two saw the police squad approaching, they attempted to leave. After a long chase, the police were able to apprehend Jahirul.
However, the other peddler managed to flee without being apprehended.
The police recovered four soapboxes containing 45 grams of suspected heroin and a motorcycle without a registered number from Jahirul’s possession.
It may be mentioned that the recovered drugs are worth over Rs 5 lakh in the market.
