Assam Police Apprehends Three for Attempted Extortion at Gunpoint in Diphu
Guwahati, 3rd August: Assam police took swift action on Wednesday night and apprehended three individuals for allegedly attempting to extort money from several people at Diphu in the Karbi Anglong district.
According to sources, the miscreants tried to extort an amount of approximately 8 lakhs from multiple individuals in the region, using a gun to intimidate their victims.
Obasan Daulagfu alias Jaggu, Safa Sorafangsa, and Biju Gour have been named as the defendants.
In response to information about their activities, the police promptly acted and apprehended the trio in the Daladali area.
When the suspects were searched, the police discovered one SBBL weapon, one camouflage jacket, and four mobile phones in their possession. The accused’s vehicle and another two-wheeler were also seized.
Authorities suspect that the arrested individuals may be associated with a militant outfit.
Further investigations are underway.
