Assam Police Arrest 3 Suspected JMB Linkmen in Tripura
Guwahati: Three linkmen with Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) have been arrested by the Assam Police from Tripura in connection with a case registered with the Jogighopa police station in Bongaigaon district of Assam on Sunday.
According to reports, the three were apparently out on conditional bail when an Assam police team arrived in Sonamura in the Sepahijala district of Tripura to apprehend them.
The trio has been identified as Abul Kashem aged 33, Hamid Ali aged 38, and Imran Hossein aged 24. They are all residents of Khadya Khala village under Jatrapur police station.
Reportedly, they were apprehended earlier on the basis of information obtained from central intelligence services. The three was suspected of having ties to the Bangladeshi terror group JMB, but Sepahijala district court granted them conditional bail.
They were taken to court and pleaded for transit remand; however, the court ordered them to be held in judicial custody until April 16.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Sonamura Banoj Biplab Das said, “They have been arrested once again in connection with a case registered in Assam. They were brought before the court with a remand request, but the court instead committed them to jail custody until April 16.”
