Sri Lanka: Prez Rajapaksa to hold meeting with 41 MP’s

Sri Lanka: President Gotabaya Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka will meet with 41 cabinet members who recently resigned from the ruling party.

The meeting between President Rajapaksa and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is set for 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Former President and SLFP leader Maithripala Sirisena provided details of the critical and crucial meeting. The meeting is being held in order to find a solution to the country’s current economic, political, and social problems.

The entire country is calling for President Rajapaksa and the Rajapaksa dynasty to be removed from office in Sri Lanka.

With the reintroduction of the Constitutional provisions of the 19th Amendment, the SLFP believes that an all-party interim administration without the Rajapaksa clan will win popular confidence since there will be no superfluous directions or commands from the executive.

Sri Lanka is in the midst of a severe economic crisis, with food and fuel shortages affecting a substantial portion of the population. Meanwhile, in the midst of an unprecedented economic crisis, the price of rice in the island nation has risen to “unbearable levels.”
