Guwahati: The Assam Police Department reiterates its commitment to be strict on New Year’s Eve and to prosecute lawbreakers and drunk drivers. This is also in an effort to prevent road accidents.
“This invitation is for you if your New Year’s Eve plans include drinking and driving. “P.S. – Stag Entry Allowed,” a “witty” note says “Assam Police issued a tweet this morning.
“If you are inebriated, do not drive. The Assam Police would be tough. (Many people dislike the word brutal.) “Today morning, Special DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh sent out another tweet.
Over the years, there have been several reports of vehicle accidents during New Year’s celebrations. The sad injuries and deaths have been a source of concern.
It may be mentioned that the Assam Police is now taking strong measures to combat the problem. The state government has also placed advertisements in other areas in an attempt to raise awareness about road safety.
