Assam police seize cattle-laden truck; nab 3 persons

Guwahati, 28th February: The East Guwahati Police Department’s team stationed at Jorabat OP of Basistha police station conducted a successful operation this morning. They intercepted a vehicle (AS21 C 9386) on the Jorabat Link Road that was attempting to smuggle 10 live cattle into Meghalaya.

Three individuals identified as Saddam Hussain from Mikirbheta, along with Jiyaul Haque and Inus Ali from Morigaon, were apprehended by the authorities as a result of the interception.

The operation underscores the vigilant efforts of law enforcement to combat illegal activities, particularly in the realm of cattle smuggling. The prompt action of the EGPD team prevented the illicit transportation of live cattle across state borders.

The arrested individuals, suspected of involvement in the smuggling attempt, are currently in custody. Authorities are poised to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the matter to ascertain further details.
