Assam: Roads in Silchar in Severe Disrepair, Hindering Daily Commuters

Silchar, August 3, 2024 The roads in Silchar are in a state of severe disrepair, posing significant challenges for daily commuters. The deteriorating condition of the roads has led to frequent traffic jams and an increase in accidents, primarily due to large potholes that have developed along the main highways.

The persistent issues with road maintenance have exacerbated the difficulties faced by traffic police, who are struggling to manage the increasing congestion.

In an unusual response to the crisis, a home guard jawan, along with two traffic policemen, has been observed actively engaged in makeshift repair efforts. The trio was seen attempting to fill in the numerous potholes using shovels, in a bid to alleviate the hazardous conditions.

Particularly problematic is Hospital Road, which has become notorious for its dangerous conditions. A substantial pothole resembling a small pond has formed in the center of the road, contributing to both frequent accidents and traffic delays.

In an effort to address the immediate risks, two traffic police officers and a home guard jawan were recently spotted on the highway, working manually with shovels to mitigate the dangers posed by the deep potholes.

This grassroots effort highlights the urgency of the situation and the dedication of local authorities to ensure the safety of Silchar’s commuters.
