Assam: School Principal Held in Connection to Student’s Suicide in Boko

Guwahati: The principal of a senior secondary school in Assam’s Kamrup district was taken into custody on suspicion of physically and psychologically assaulting a student.

The incident has been reported at the Kalatoli Kathmi Anchalik Senior Secondary School in Kamrup’s Boko.

The principal has been identified as Rafiqul Alam.

According to reports, Alam was arrested on the final day of his tenure as the school’s principal.

He was arrested once the suicide of a female student at the school came to light.

According to reports, the student identified as Helmina Begum embraced death after consuming poison on January 7. Following the incident, her mother filed a police report (FIR) against the principal, Rafiqul Alam, stating that he had physically and mentally abused the student, which was the reason for him taking this action.

On the other hand, allegations have also been leveled against four other including a woman.

The Boko Police has registered a case and launched detailed investigation into the incident.
