Assam: Schools to Remain Closed Till June 19 in Darrang
Guwahati: The Darrang district government has ordered all educational institutions in the district to stay closed from Thursday (June 16) through Sunday (June 19) due to the continuous rain.
According to Darrang DC Pranab Kumar Sarma, schools would be shuttered until Sunday unless the situation improves slightly.
Notably, the flood situation in Assam has worsened as a result of the state’s strong and continuous rainfall during the previous few days.
According to a report by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), flood waters are still affecting over 18 districts and 37 revenue circles in the state.
According to the ASDMA data, the floods have affected 74,116 individuals in 314 communities. On the other side, seven relief camps have been established across the state, with a total of 1,224 detainees currently residing there.
Further, Guwahati has three relief camps and five relief distribution centres.
Bajali, Baksa, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Hojai, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Nalbari, Tamulpur, and Udalguri are among the flood-affected districts.
Meanwhile, the Manas River is flowing above the danger threshold at a National Highway Road-crossing in lower Assam.
