Assam STF Arrests Suspected Jihadi in Dhubri District

The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police apprehended a suspected Jihadi, identified as Jaher Ali, in Bilasipara, Dhubri district. The arrest is part of the state’s intensified operations against extremist activities in border areas. Ali is being transported to Guwahati for further interrogation as authorities delve deeper into the case.

The arrest follows a series of coordinated efforts by Assam Police, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to counter the rising threat of extremist elements in the region.

Earlier this year, during a press conference, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the state’s progress in tackling Jihadi threats, particularly along border areas. He emphasized the government’s commitment to curbing extremist activities through strategic collaboration with central agencies.

“We arrested 23 people and seized various weapons,” the Chief Minister stated, underlining the success of recent operations. He also pointed out the arrests made in other states, including West Bengal and Kerala, as part of the broader crackdown.

The investigation into Jaher Ali’s alleged activities is ongoing, with authorities expected to uncover more details about his network and potential affiliations. This development underscores Assam’s continued vigilance in addressing security concerns in the region.
