Assam: Suspected ULFA-I linkman nabbed in Hojai

Guwahati: A suspected linkman of the banned United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) was apprehended in Hojai district of Assam on Saturday night.

The linkman identified as Abdul Istak.

According to reports, Istak was arrested for allegedly maintaining links with ULFA-I.

Currently, Istak is in four-days police custody by a local court for further investigation.

It needs to be mentioned that a person thought to be a linkman for a senior functionary of the banned group was detained by the Guwahati Police Crime Branch last month.

A 38-year-old Tutu Bora who is a resident of Gormur in Majuli district of Assam was nabbed in a key breakthrough. He was said to be working with Ganesh Lahon to gather information about contractors in Majuli.

It may be mentioned that he was involved in extortion and recruiting new cadres for the banned militant group.
