Assam: Two BSF jawans dead, three injured in Mankachar road accident
Guwahati: Amid Holi Celebration, two Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were allegedly killed and three others were seriously injured in a traffic accident near the Indo-Bangla border on Friday.
The incident took place in the Mankachar town of South Salmara-Mankachar District of Assam.
According to reports, the BSF patrolling team’s driver lost control of the vehicle (AS 01W 1708) and it crashed into a canal near the BSF camp area of Jhaodanga.
Reports further claimed that three BSF jawans in the truck managed to escape, despite the fact that the vehicle carrying two other BSF jawans vanished in the middle of the canal.
The BSF later recovered the body of one of the deceased troops from the canal with the help of the local populace and SDRF members.
An operation is underway to retrieve the body of another BSF jawan who is still missing.
Meanwhile, identity of the deceased is yet is to be ascertained.
