Assam: Two detained for cattle smuggling

Guwahati: Assam Police detained two persons in connection with illegal Cattle Transportation in Nagaon.

In an operation conducted by the police, the police officials arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the illegal transportation of cattle across the border.

The arrestees have been identified as Md Alam and Babul Islam of Rupohihat.

The officials further seized two trucks from the Kaliabor town of the Bagori area in the district that were used to carry the cattle.

As per police, the truck was filled with livestock without legitimate documentation and was suspected of being used for cross-border smuggling.

The police further stated that after questioning both of them, they stated that the cattle heads were being transported to Rupohi and that they had been purchased from a cattle market in Golaghat.

They were detained on suspicion and an inquiry into the matter has begun.

Moreover, the Police recovered 54 cattle from their possession.
