Assam: Two Women Arrested with Banned Brown Sugar at Lumding Railway Junction

Guwahati: The Railway Police at Lumding railway junction have arrested two women from Morzhar in Hojai district, for possessing banned brown sugar.

The women have been identified as Afsara Begum and Rahima Begum.

The arrest was made from the 15968 Namni Mukh Lidhu-Rangiya Express train during a police operation.

The police seized 24.27 grams of banned brown sugar from the possession of the two women, who are suspected of transporting the contraband from Dimapur to Morzhar in Hojai by train.

The market value of the confiscated brown sugar is estimated to be around Rs 2,40,000.

The Railway Police are investigating the case, and further details are awaited.

The arrest and seizure highlight the ongoing efforts of the Railway Police to curb the transportation of contraband through the railway network.
