Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a minor girl lost life after a wild elephant trampled her to death in Jorhat district of Assam on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place in Bijoypur area of Mariani.
The deceased girl has been identified as Barsha Gogoi.
According to reports, Barsha Gogoi was trampled to death by a herd of elephants that had strayed out of the jungle in search of food.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom has descended on the village due to the unfortunate death of the minor girl.
Later, local police arrived at the scene and recovered the body for autopsy.
