Assam’s Bhumidhar Barman to Lead Indian Roll Ball Contingent at Asian Championship
Guwahati: In a significant recognition of his contributions to sports, Bhumidhar Barman, a prominent figure from Assam, has been appointed as the Chief de Mission (CDM) for the Indian contingent at the upcoming 4th Asian Roll Ball Championship. The championship is scheduled to be held in Goa from December 16 to 19, 2024.
Hailing from Guwahati, Barman boasts a rich experience in sports administration and journalism. Currently serving as the General Secretary of the Assam Roll Ball Association, he has previously held key positions in major sports organizations. From 2001 to 2018, he served as the Joint Secretary of the Assam Olympic Association, playing a pivotal role in the state’s sporting landscape.
Furthermore, Barman’s contributions to sports journalism are noteworthy. He served as the Joint Secretary of the Assam Sports Journalists Association from 1997 to 1999, shaping the narrative of sports in the region.
As the CDM for the Indian Roll Ball team, Barman will be responsible for overseeing the team’s preparations, accommodations, and overall well-being during the championship. His appointment is a testament to his dedication and expertise in the field of sports.
