Assam’s Mridu Pawan Das Appointed as India’s High Commissioner to Rwanda

Guwahati, 1st August: In a notable accomplishment for Assam, Mridu Pawan Das, a distinguished 2004-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has been appointed as India’s next High Commissioner to Rwanda. This key diplomatic position in East Africa reflects the government’s trust in Das’s extensive experience and diplomatic acumen.

Currently serving as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, Das’s appointment was formally announced by the Ministry. The official release stated, “Mridu Pawan Das (IFS:2004), presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Rwanda.”

Mridu Pawan Das comes from a respected family in Assam. He is the eldest son of the late Kamal Das, a retired senior accounts officer at the Gauhati Refinery, and Labanya Das. His academic journey includes education at Gauhati Public School and Cotton College, followed by an engineering degree from the Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra.

Das’s appointment is a significant milestone in his diplomatic career, highlighting his contributions and the experience he has amassed over the years. His new role in Rwanda is expected to further strengthen India’s diplomatic relations with the East African nation.
