Security Forces Seize Significant Weapons Cache in Manipur Operations
Northeast Desk, 2nd August: Security forces have successfully conducted search operations and area domination exercises in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur’s hill and valley districts, resulting in substantial weapons seizures. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and stability in the region.
In the Lunghou area of Kangpokpi District, security personnel recovered a cache of weapons that included two locally made 12-bore rifles, one locally made .22 assault rifle with a magazine, one 7.62 mm SKS semi-automatic assault rifle with a magazine, nine live ammunition rounds, 26 empty ammunition cases, one locally made bomb, and a Baofeng walkie-talkie.
In a separate operation conducted in the Uyumakhong area of Bishnupur District, security forces discovered a larger arsenal. This haul comprised two AK-47 rifles, one Vietnam Sniper R-III rifle, various empty magazines, a 9mm pistol, live rounds, hand grenades, smoke grenades, anti-riot grenades, tear gas shells, mortar bombs, and other military equipment.
These seizures underscore the continuous efforts of security forces to maintain peace and prevent the proliferation of illegal arms in Manipur. The operations reflect a proactive approach to curbing potential threats and ensuring the safety of the local populace.
