Assembly Election: Polling on in UP, Uttarakhand and Goa
Guwahati: All 70 assembly seats in Uttarakhand and 40 constituencies in Goa, as well as 55 seats in Uttar Pradesh, are up for election today. The voting for phase 2 of the elections in 2022, which is being held in accordance with the Election Commission’s Covid standards, began at 7 a.m. and ended at 5 p.m.
The average polling percentage across the 55 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh was 23.03 percent as of 11 a.m. In Uttarakhand and Goa, respectively, 18.97% and 26.63% of people voted.
In Uttar Pradesh, the incumbent BJP won 38 of the 55 seats up for election in this round in 2017, while the Samajwadi Party got 15, and the Congress got two.
The SP and the Congress teamed up to run in the previous Assembly election. A seven-phase election is taking place in the state.
The BJP presently has 17 legislators in the Goa Assembly, with legislators from the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Vijay Sardesai of the Goa Forward Party (GFP), and three independents supporting them.
In Goa’s 2022 elections, the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will face off against the Congress, Trinamool Congress, and Aam Admi Party (AAP) in a multi-cornered political battle.
In Uttarakhand, where the BJP has had 11 Chief Ministers in the last two decades, the party is hoping for a second term.
