Attack on Pakistani Army Bomb Disposal Team Leaves Two Dead in Balochistan

International Desk, 1st April: Armed assailants opened fire on a Pakistani Army bomb disposal team, resulting in the death of at least two soldiers and injuring four others on April 1.

The incident occurred near the port city of Gwadar in Balochistan province.

According to reports, the bomb disposal team was clearing landmines in the Ankara Dam area when they came under attack on Monday.

The injured were promptly shifted to a nearby hospital, with the incident unfolding some 25 km from the port city of Gwadar.

Security forces have initiated a search operation in the area to locate the attackers.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Historically, the separatist Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for most attacks in Gwadar.

The BLA opposes China’s investments in Balochistan and accuses both China and Pakistan of exploiting the resource-rich province, a charge dismissed by authorities.
