BSF Issues High Alert on India-Bangladesh Border Amid Bangladesh Crisis
National Desk, 5th August: The Border Security Force (BSF) has issued a high alert along the India-Bangladesh border following the resignation of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This move comes in response to the escalating law and order situation in Bangladesh, with heightened security measures implemented to manage any potential fallout.
The Director General of the BSF has arrived in Kolkata to oversee the situation. The alert reflects growing concerns about the impact of the political instability in Bangladesh on the bordering Indian states.
Earlier today, Tipra Motha leader Pradyot Manikya Deb Barma urged the Central government to prepare a ‘Plan B’ given the escalating protests in Bangladesh. Deb Barma highlighted that the bordering states of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and West Bengal could be directly affected by the crisis in Bangladesh.
In a statement on the microblogging site X, Deb Barma expressed grave concerns, noting that “a strong anti-India sentiment is growing in Bangladesh, similar to that seen in the Maldives.” He stressed the need for the Indian government to be prepared for any eventualities, stating, “Tripura, West Bengal, Meghalaya, Assam will be on the front line of any developments there.”
The Indian government has also issued a travel advisory urging nationals to avoid travel to Bangladesh until further notice, reflecting the seriousness of the situation.
