BSF Officer Shoots Self in Tripura’s Dhalai
Guwahati: A Border Security Force (BSF) officer allegedly shot himself dead outside his battalion headquarters in Dhalai district of Tripura on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in front of the BSF camp’s main entrance in the Jawaharnagar area of the district.
The deceased is a resident of Rajasthan and was posted at the MK Para border check in Dhalai.
A BSF official said “He is thought to have committed suicide. Police have launched an investigation into the incident in order to determine the cause of death.”
Dhalai Superintendent of Police Ramesh Yadav said that the BSF officer died at 9 pm at the Kulai district hospital.
“The BSF officer looked to have killed himself with his service handgun at first glance. We’ve opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident, and we’ve filed a case of unnatural death “he stated.
Meanwhile, he further informed that the body has been sent for post mortem and investigation into the matter is underway.
