Chain Snatching Incidents Plague Guwahati City, Police Launch Investigations
Guwahati, 7th August: In a concerning development, two more chain snatching incidents have been reported in broad daylight in Guwahati city on Monday, raising alarm among residents and putting the spotlight on the need for enhanced security measures.
The first incident involved two bike-riding criminals who quickly stole the chain from the neck of a woman who was strolling in the Bharalumukh neighbourhood before fleeing. The victim promptly went to the neighbourhood police station after the incident and filed a report, asking for the offenders to be punished.
In another incident, a guy was robbed of his gold necklace on Monday while out on a morning stroll. The incident was documented by CCTV cameras and the victim, known as Randhir Raj Gupta, underwent it. The video showed two bike-riding criminals slyly approaching the man and stealing his gold chain. The victim was frightened and defenceless as the offenders quickly disappeared after committing the crime.
In response to these incidents, complaints have been filed at the Paltan Bazar police station, initiating investigations into both cases. However, it remains unclear if the same individuals were involved in both robberies.
Authorities are now on high alert and have intensified efforts to apprehend the culprits and ensure the safety of residents. The incidents have sparked concern among the public, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and security measures in the city.
