Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the State government has prepared a comprehensive roadmap for the all-around development of Assam where inadequate space has been created to use the services of disgruntled youths of the state who returned to the mainstream.
Speaking at a function while giving financial benefits as a part of rehabilitation package to the ex-NDFB cadres at Tamulpur today, Chief Minister Sarma said that the State government as an important component of the Bodo Peace Accord signed on 27 January 2020, designed the rehabilitation package to make the youths economically empowered to strengthen the government’s narrative of economic development.
It may be noted that as a part of the rehabilitation package, CM presented fixed deposit certificates amounting to Rs. 4 lakh each to 1105 ex cadres of NDFB belonging to different factions who abjured violence and returned to the mainstream of the society.
Sarma while addressing the ex-cadres said, “As a part of our commitment to bring the disgruntled youths to the mainstream of the society and make them an important part of our composite human resource, I am happy to hand over fixed deposit certificates to our youths with a request to make good use of the money and help in our endeavor to start an economic movement in our state to make an Atmanirbhar Assam.”
He also said that those cadres who have been left out in the rehabilitation program will be included in the third phase of the rehabilitation package so that they can also be empowered economically to strengthen the government’s narrative of economic development.
He also said, “Rehabilitation of the cadres is one of the important components of the Bodo Accord signed on 27th January 2020. On this occasion, I expressed my gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Bodo leaders who took an active role to herald a new era of peace in Assam.”
On this occasion, the Chief Minister paid his rich tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and assured the people of BTR that his government is steadfast in fulfilling the aspirations of the people living in BTR. He also maintained that as a commitment of the State government for the promotion of the Bodo language and culture, the government is also contemplating allowing the willing students to write the APSC examination in the Bodo language.
He also called upon the ex-cadres who returned to the mainstream not to be swayed away by any external stimulus or pressure and co-operate the government in its bid to build and promote a socio-economic, cultural and academic empowerment narrative in the state.
