Manipur CM: Chaga Ngee declared as restricted holiday

Guwahati: The Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh has been praised by the Liangmai Naga Council of Manipur (LNC-M), the apex body of the Liangmai people in Manipur for declaring Chaga Ngee as a restricted state holiday on October 30.

The council thanked the CM “for his love and support rendered to the Liangmai Naga community.”

Minister of Forest and Environment, Climate Change, and Sericulture Awangbow Newmai has also been appreciated by the council “for his relentless efforts” to make sure that the Chaga Ngee is a recognized restricted holiday in Manipur State.

It may be mentioned that the LNC (M) stated that on October 30, of every year the Liangmai tribe celebrates Chaga Ngee as one of the biggest festivals. It is a festival of purification or sanctification and rededication of life to God and Chaga Ngee is the biggest and the most important festival of the Liangmai community.

Chaga Nee is a festival of purification or sanctification and rededication. According to the ancient account, Chaga Ngee is celebrated after a war where victorious warriors are honoured on the day.
