CM Rio: PM Modi, Amit Shah to Visit Nagaland Soon

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are likely to visit Nagaland soon to talk about the political situation with the Nagas and their demand for a separate state.

The chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio said this on Tuesday while speaking at a sports meet in the village of Zhadima near Kohima.

According to Rio, Amit Shah will travel to the northeastern state on January 6 and have talks over the demand for an independent state with members of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO).

PM Narendra Modi, on the other side is probably going to go to Nagaland in the middle of January.

Prior to the visit of prominent BJP leaders to the state, the state cabinet would also convene, according to the chief minister of Nagaland. Neiphiu Rio continued by saying that Amit Shah’s visit will clear the air in terms of finding a permanent resolution to the contentious Naga political problem.
