CM Sarma At Gunotsav Inauguration: Hybrid Model In Assam Govt Schools

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Gunotsav celebrations at Ghorabandha school in Sipajhhar of Darrang district of Assam on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the state government intends to implement a hybrid model of education in government-funded institutions. He made numerous announcements today, including this one.

Sarma said, “Government-funded schools in Assam would henceforth follow a hybrid approach. We’ll meet with notable members of the teaching community as well as intellectuals to design a feasible implementation plan.”

He stated that this would begin at the Government Gordon Higher Secondary School in Nalbari.

Explaining about the concept, the CM said that in government schools, instruction will be delivered in English rather than Assamese.

He further added, “We want to establish two English subjects in these universities. It will be implemented in stages across Assam’s educational establishments.”

“Students were the most afflicted during the Covid-19 pandemic and they sustained the highest losses. The state government has abandoned personal comfort in pursuit of a brighter Assam,” Sarma said.

CM Sarma demanded that phrases like “protest” be removed from the educational system, and urged TET trained teachers to put an end to protests.

“Since independence, protests have put Assam on the back foot,” he continued.

It needs to be noted that Assam will be commemorating ‘Gunotsav from May 11 to June 4. It will be celebrated in three stages in approximately 46,000 schools.

Meanwhile, students will be evaluated during this time. In the first phase, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Charaideo, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Karimganj, Karbi Anglong, Nagaon and Nalbari will observe it.

In the second phase, Barpeta, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, Majuli, Morigaon, South Salmara, Mankachar, Tinsukia and Udalguri will celebrate the fest. The second phase will begin from May 23, while assessment will take place between May 24 and May 26.

Furthermore, the third phase will begin from June 1 and the assessment will take place between June 2 and June 4. The third phase will include Baksa, Chirang, Dhubri, Dima Hasao, Jorhat, Kamrup metro, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur and West Karbi Anglong.
