CM Sarma: People of Guwahati have Reaffirmed Faith on BJP
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his delight and said that the people of Guwahati had reaffirmed their faith in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
After the BJP won a landslide victory in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections, Sarma made the following statement.
He said “I bow my head to the people of Guwahati for handing the BJP and its allies a record 58/60 ward triumph in the GMC Polls.” People have reaffirmed their faith in our development journey under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi with this tremendous mandate.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to the people of Guwahati for providing the BJP and AGP a “resounding mandate.”
Taking to twitter, PM Modi said, “Thank you Guwahati! The people of this lovely city have given a resounding mandate to @BJP4Assam to build on the agenda of development. They have also blessed the hardwork of the state government under CM @himantabiswa. My gratitude to every BJP Karyakarta for the hardwork.”

The BJP and its allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), won 58 of the 60 wards. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made its debut by winning one ward, while the AJP also won one ward.
Meanwhile, the long-running Congress party failed to win a single ward.
