Northeast Desk, 19th April: Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, the Congress candidate contesting from the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency, exercised his franchise on April 19.
Akoijam, known for his distinguished career as a professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University, is celebrated for his passionate advocacy for cinema, incorporating film into his academic pursuits.
Today’s polling inauguration holds particular significance, especially in violence-affected regions of Manipur, including the entirety of the Inner Manipur constituency spanning Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, and Thoubal districts.
Moreover, substantial portions of the Outer Manipur constituency (ST) are included in the polling, covering Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Chandel districts.
