COVID Crisis | Limited over India-Sri Lanka series deferred

Guwahati:  The limited over series for India-Sri Lanka has been postponed due to several COVID-19 cases being detected in the Sri Lanka camp.

The matches between the two teams will now take place on July 17 instead of July 13.

India is all set to play ODI and T20 series in Colombo but as per the reports two staff members from the home team tested positive for COVID 19 and among the persons who tested positive, one is a batting coach Grant Flower. Team analyst GT Niroshan was also found to be infected with the virus.

Sri Lankan players who came back from the UK have tested negative but for precaution, they have been quarantined in a hotel in Colombo. For these reasons, the matches have now been deferred.

It may be mentioned that Sikhar Dhawan will lead the Indian team while Rahul Dravid has been appointed as coach for the series.

The rescheduled list for India vs Sri Lanka series is:

  • 1st ODI – July 18
  • 2nd ODI – July 20
  • 3rd ODI – July 23

 

  • 1st T20i – July 25
  • 2nd T20i – July 27
  • 3rd T20i – July 29
