Guwahati: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Friday destroyed 6000 litres of illegal alcohol at various locations in the Merapani area of the Golaghat district, which borders Assam and Nagaland.
Along with this, the CRPF also destroyed a number of ingredients used in the production of alcohol, seized 30 containers, and two cutting-edge equipment.
However, the squad was unable to make any arrests because everyone involved fled the location as soon as they heard that the CRPF and excise department teams were on the way.
It needs to be mentioned that taking advantage of the inaction of the local police such practices of making illicit liquor has been on the rise in the Merapani area.
