Dedicate My Last Years to Health, Says Ratan Tata at Assam’s Dibrugarh
Guwahati: Industrialist Ratan Tata said on Thursday that he wanted to “dedicate his last years to help make Assam a state that recognises and is recognised by everybody.”
Mr. Tata along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated seven state-of-the-art cancer hospitals and set the foundation stone for another seven on Thursday.
“In Assam, seven new cancer facilities were launched today. Even the opening of one hospital in seven years used to be a cause for celebration. The times have changed. Three new cancer hospitals would be available for your service in a few months, according to my sources “Prime Minister Modi stated.
“I dedicate my last years to assist create Assam a state that recognises and is recognised by all,” Ratan Tata said.
“Today is a significant day in Assam’s history. A higher-level healthcare facility for cancer treatment is being brought to the state, which was previously unavailable. Cancer is not a sickness that only the wealthy suffer from “he stated
Mr Tata added, “Assam can today boast that even a small Indian state has been equipped with world-class cancer treatment facilities.”
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked Ratan Tata and the Indian government for their support, saying that the world’s largest cancer treatment will assist Assam and Southeast Asia.
“The largest cancer treatment centre in Assam and Southeast Asia… This is a significant accomplishment for us. I appreciate Ratan Tata and the Government of India’s help “he stated.
With 17 cancer care institutions distributed across the state, the Assam Cancer Care Foundation, a joint venture of the Government of Assam and Tata Trusts, is working on a mission to develop South Asia’s biggest affordable cancer care network.
Seven of the ten hospitals built as part of Phase 1 of the project have been completed, while three others are in various stages of construction. The project’s second phase will see the development of seven additional cancer hospitals.
These cancer hospitals are built at Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Darrang, Tezpur, Lakhimpur, and Jorhat.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of seven new cancer hospitals at Dhubri, Nalbari, Goalpara, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Tinsukia and Golaghat to be constructed under Phase 2 of the project.
