Fakirganj ASI In Assam Suspended after Asking Bribe To Release An Inmate
Guwahati: The Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Fakirganj Police Station in the South Salmara-Mankachar district of Assam was suspended on Monday after it came to light that he had asked for money to release prisoners.
The tainted official was identified as Sanjiv Mazumdar. He reportedly solicited a prisoner for money in exchange for letting him go free.
The prisoner whose release he requested in exchange for a bribe was arrested on drug trafficking accusations.
The video of Mazumdar being caught on camera asking for a bribe went viral on social media.
The corrupted cop was ordered to leave his reserve after the incident.
