Ferry drift away in Guwahati

Guwahati: A boat carrying 200 passengers collided with a pillar of the under-construction North-Guwahati bridge on October 11.

According to reports, the boat had a mechanical failure.

The incident took place on Monday evening around 5:30 pm. When the tragedy occurred, the Baghbar boat was reportedly moving towards North Guwahati.

The ferry was eventually rescued by another ferry named Rolex which sailed towards the boat and saved the passengers’ lives.

It may be mentioned that in September month two ferries collided at Nimatighat in Jorhat where many got injured and a few people lost their lives.
