Final Lap of Bharat Jodo Yatra Resumes In Srinagar

Guwahati: Congressman Rahul Gandhi began the final leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Panthachowk near Srinagar on Sunday.

Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, general secretary of the Congress started the yatra at 10:45 am. The Gandhis carried the tricolour and party flags among hundreds of other Congress supporters, many of whom were women. The yatra will travel seven kilometres to reach the city’s Sonwar area.

At midday, Rahul Gandhi raised the Tricolor over Lal Chowk in Srinagar to signify the conclusion of the march on foot.

The 4,080 mile walkathon will come to an end as the yatra reaches its conclusion close to Nehru Park on Boulevard Road.

Mr. Gandhi will raise the tricolour at the party headquarters on M A Road and then 23 opposition political parties have been invited to a public event that will take place at the SK stadium on Monday.

The 145-day, approximately 4,000-kilometer Kanyakumari to Kashmir Yatra began on September 7 at the southernmost point of the nation and will conclude on January 30 in Srinagar.

The last walking day of the yatra will conclude on Sunday.
