Former Police Officer Shot Dead by Sub-Inspector In Assam

Guwahati: A retired police officer from Arunachal Pradesh was shot dead by a cop in Dhemaji district of Assam on Saturday.

The incident occurred in Bhehpara of Dhemaji.

The deceased has been identified as Amulya Barua.

According to reports, the accused SI Alok Konwar allegedly shot Barua with his rifle.

Following the incident, SI Alok Konwar surrendered.

However, the reason behind the extreme step taken by Konwar is yet to be ascertained.

According to reports, Alok Konwar was serving as a Sub- Inspector at Dibrugarh Police Station.

Reportedly, Konwar left Dibrugarh this morning after emergency night duty after which he reached Dhemaji and fired three rounds at Amulya Barua.

Police suspects that the incident might have occurred due to their personal conflicts.

Meanwhile an investigation has been initiated into the incident.

It needs to be noted that this was the second killing of a policeman this year.
