Guwahati: In a major success in the ongoing war on drugs, a massive consignment of opium has been seized from a train on Saturday at Guwahati Railway Station.
Government Railway Police (GRP) and Paltan bazar police in an operation seized around 12 kilograms of opium.
The opium was seized from New Delhi-bound Rajdhani express train that halted in Guwahati.
According to reports, the opium was found in small satchel packets concealed within a big backpack bag with no witnesses.
The estimated market value of the opium is said to be around 10 lakhs.
It is learned that the drugs were being smuggled from Dimapur.
No arrests were made so far in connection to the seizure.
Further investigation is underway.
