Golaghat Administration shuts down Cattle Markets
Guwahati: The Golaghat district administration has ordered to shut down all the weekly cattle markets in the district in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
The administration had ordered the shutting down for at least two weeks.
A notification issued by the district administration read, “It is observed that in the weekly cattle markets of the district large numbers of people congregate and hereby increases the possibility of spread of COVID-19 and the district is witnessing a rise in COVID cases. There is report of a cattle disease spreading in neighbouring state. Therefore, the undersigned orders the temporary closure of all the weekly cattle markets of the district vide the powers conferred in the Disaster Management Act, 2005.”
The notification also stated that a committee has been formed to examine the health of humans and cattle. They will propose appropriate methods to open those markets while keeping health risks to a minimum.
