Guwahati: Investigation on to nab woman involve in infant missing case from GMCH

Guwahati: Investigation is still on to identify the woman that was captured in CCTV footage who is accused of being involved in the missing case of a seven-month-old infant from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati on Wednesday.

According to reports, the police officials further circulated the picture of the baby at all the hospitals in the state. Police also sent the photos to healthcare centres in the neighbouring states.

The infant is said to be suffering from kidney problems, and police believe the lifters will take the seven-month-old to the hospital.

After the infant went missing from the GMCH’s paediatric ward, Bhangagarh police detained two ladies implicated in the incident. Both women were detained and questioned at the Panbazar Women’s Police Station.

The child, Priyam Kalita was admitted to GMCH on March 24 with fever and anemia and was diagnosed with Bilateral Hydroureteronephrosis with Cystitis.

According to a GMCH statement, the father gave the child to an unknown lady for consolation on April 13, i.e. today, when the child was sobbing and both parents fell asleep at 4.30 a.m. When they awoke at 5.30 a.m., they discovered that the child, as well as the lady, had gone vanished.

Naba Kalita, the boy’s father, said the infant had been confined to the hospital since March 24 and that many tests had been conducted since then, with the discovery that he was also suffering from kidney problems. Naba was unable to console him since he was crying uncontrollably, and a lady approached me and requested that I hand over the baby to her in order for her to console him. Kalita was seated in a chair when she fell asleep, and the lady took advantage of the situation by abducting my kid.”

It may be mentioned that the baby’s guardian and the hospital authority each filed two missing complaints at the Bhangagarh police station.
