Guwahati: Amidst the celebration of Rongali Bihu in the state, one youth died on the spot in a road accident in Guwahati.
The incident took place at the Ganeshguri flyover when speeding two-wheeler number lost its control and hit Ganeshguri flyover on Sunday night
The two-wheeler registered with the number AS 01 FA 5810.
According to reports, there were two people on the bike and in the incident one died on the spot in the accident. On the other hand, the another one got seriously injured.
Meanwhile, the injured was sent to Guwahati Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Guwahati traffic police stated that the road accident occurred due to excessive drinking and riding bikes.
It may be mentioned that during the Bihu celebration in the state several road accidents reported among which most of the accidents occurred due to high speed.
It needs to be noted Assam Government implemented several rules and restriction on speed riding and further made wearing helmet mandatory for riders. Moreover, there is a penalty of Rs 1000 failing for the same.
Moreover, yesterday the District Transport Officer of Kamrup Gautam Das expressing grief over the road accident in which at least five Bihu artists killed due to high speed, urged the people of the state to drive safe and follow the rules of government.
