Even with a minor downpour, the city is wracked by flash floods in a matter of hours. The worst-affected areas are Chandmari, Gandhi Basti, Nabin Nagar, Anil Nagar, Bhaskar Nagar, and Zoo Road.
The problem of urban flooding in Guwahati has becomes a recurring issue. With no permanent remedy in sight, it continues to plague a large number of city residents. A heavy downpour swamped the metropolis, putting all main portions of the city to a halt.
During the summer, the city is impacted by flash floods and severe rainfall. Rainwater from Meghalaya and the neighbouring hills wreaked havoc on the roads and drains, causing extensive siltation and a massive water logging problem.
