Guwahati: Water Pipeline Burst Causes Traffic Chaos in Bhangagarh area

Guwahati, 17th February: Heavy traffic snarls gripped Guwahati’s Bhangagarh area on February 17 following a water pipeline burst, sparking chaos among residents.

Videos circulating from the scene depicted water gushing out with significant force, flooding the surrounding roads. Although no damages were immediately reported, officials have yet to arrive at the location to assess the situation.

This incident marks a recurring challenge for the city, as similar water pipe bursts have previously caused disruptions and damage. In past instances, burst pipelines have led to structural damage to buildings and widespread flooding in the affected areas.

One notable incident occurred on June 11, when a water pipeline managed by the Guwahati Jal Board burst near Gauhati Commerce College on RG Baruah Road, triggering panic and flooding in Rajgarh. While there were no reported injuries, properties worth lakhs of rupees suffered damage.

The situation was eventually brought under control with the intervention of a team from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, highlighting the ongoing need for proactive measures to address such incidents and minimize their impact on the community.
